What to Do in the Cotswolds in July: The Ultimate Summer Guide
July is one of the most magical months to experience the Cotswolds. Lavender fields are in full bloom, village greens are buzzing with summer fêtes, gardens are overflowing with colour, and long evenings invite al fresco dinners and countryside strolls. Whether you’re planning a weekend escape or looking for new places to discover close to home, July offers some of the very best experiences the region has to offer.
In this guide, I’ve rounded up my favourite things to do in the Cotswolds this July, from wandering through fragrant lavender fields and visiting spectacular country gardens to relaxing in a wood-fired sauna, enjoying unforgettable foodie experiences, and exploring some of the prettiest villages in England!
The Wild Sauna
The Wild Sauna, located in the beautiful village of Whichford, is the perfect place to spend a cooler summer’s day. Take a refreshing dip in the river or the outdoor bath, and then warm up again in the gorgeous sauna which is lined with aspen and alder, or in the wood-fired hot-tub. Be sure to add the homemade skincare platter to your booking so you can try their incredible sea salt body scrub and clay face mask for the ultimate day of pampering. You can either choose to join a communal sauna session, or if there’s a group of you who’d like to attend, why not book a private two-hour session?
Cotswold Lavender
Cotswold Lavender is, as the name suggests, 45 acres of beautiful lavender fields, located in the quaint village of Snowshill near Broadway. The lavender is in full bloom from now until 5th August, so be sure to visit soon. They also have acres of wildflower meadows and a woodland trail which is great for children. You’re encouraged to take a picnic with you and enjoy the wonderful views from one of their many picnic benches. You can also purchase drinks and ice creams from the cabin.
RHS Badminton Flower Show
If you were unable to nab a ticket for RHS Chelsea Flower Show, do not fear because as of this year, the RHS have added a new flower show to their annual calendar! RHS Badminton Flower Show is going to be held 8th-12th July in Badminton which is a village between Tetbury and Bath. The event is going to feature plenty of show-stopping gardens, as well as a floral marquee, talks by horticultural experts and of course incredible shopping and delicious food. If you need somewhere to stay locally, The Close in Tetbury is a lovely option.

Quince & Clover On The Square
If you happen to be close to the stunning village of Deddington on a hot summer’s day, be sure to pop into Quince & Clover’s new cafe for a homemade ice cream. We’d also recommend grabbing an iced coffee or matcha, and you should definitely take home a cake for later – their treats are all exceptional! While you’re in the village, why not pop into Eagles farm shop to stock up on some local produce.
Live From The Potting Shed
On Friday 17th July, head over to Daylesford Farm for a night of live music, seasonal cocktails and al fresco dining. Tickets to Live From The Potting Shed are totally free, although you are still encouraged to book in advance on Daylesford’s website. The event is held on the terrace of Daylesford’s newest events space; Heritage House, and is the perfect way to soak up the final sun rays of the day in beautiful surroundings.
Paint & Sip at Dunkerton’s Taproom
On Wednesday 8th July, Dunkerton’s Tap Room is holding a paint & sip event, where you can pick up a paint brush and have a go at creating your very own masterpiece, with the gentle guidance from an expert, and with a delicious drink in hand! Expect relaxed vibes, delicious food options and a chatty atmosphere.
Visit The Cotswolds Distillery
The Cotswolds Distillery is a local small-batch distillery who are well known for their incredible whiskies, gins and liqueurs. Their visitor centre is also a wonderful place to visit; you can book a tour and tasting for £30pp (which is excellent value!), or simply sit down for a cocktail at their outdoor bar. If you happen to be in the area on 11th July, you could pop in for their Wimbledon Finals screening, which involves jugs of Summer Cup cocktails, or if you’re around on 18th July, you could attend their english sparking wine event, co-hosted with Black Chalk Vineyards.

Pit Kitchen
Pit Kitchen is one our favourite outdoor dining spots in the Cotswolds. It’s a casual spot located on a working farm, and the restaurant itself is within an old cattle barn. Pit Kitchen offers a small but delicious range of dishes all cooked over fire, such as chicken shawarmas, pork flatbreads and a grilled halloumi plate. After you’ve eaten, you can take your drink with you and go and lounge on the grass to watch the sun set over the rolling Cotswold hills.
Wilderness Festival
Wilderness Festival is back for 2026 from 30th July to 2nd August. This year’s headline acts include Carl Cox, The Scissor Sisters, and Sisters by Annie Lennox. Great British Menu’s Andi Oliver will also be there this year, and is hosting a long-table banquet on the Friday evening for £95pp with delicacies such as salt hake and spatchcock BBQ chicken on offer. You can purchase day tickets or weekend tickets for the festival, with the option of boutique camping if you don’t fancy roughing it!
Kelmscott Manor
Kelmscott Manor, the home of William Morris is a beautiful place to visit year-round, but the relaxed gardens come to life during the summer months. Kelmscott also hold a range of fantastic workshops; in July, choose from William Morris inspired lino printing on the 21st, or learn about William Morris’s printing press on the 23rd. Whether you plan to simply have a wander around the manor house and grounds or plan to join a workshop, a great way to round off your day would be dinner at The Bell Inn, Langford – an exceptional pub located only 8 minutes away.

Kiftsgate Court Gardens
Kiftsgate Court Gardens is a truly magical private garden near Mickleton that we’d thoroughly recommend visiting for a wander and to gather some inspiration for your own garden. Kiftsgate have recently started hosting some wonderful workshops that you can attend, such as a flower pressing workshop on Tuesday 28th July where you’ll learn how to press flowers in an old book, as well as decorating the cover of your book with fresh flowers. Tickets are £50pp.
Supper Club at The Bull, Charlbury
On Wednesday 22nd July, the team behind popular Soho restaurant, Rita’s are taking over the Bull’s kitchen to host an incredible supper club. Rita’s are known for pairing modern American dining with Mexican influences and British produce, and their supper club will include dishes such as jalapeño poppers, and a white bean and smoked eel parfait. Tickets cost £110pp.
Blockley
If you want to escape the summer crowds, perhaps visit Blockley, a peaceful hidden-gem of a village located near Moreton-in-Marsh. The village boasts a wonderful cafe called Blockley Cafe, where you can pick up an iced coffee and a cruffin, and then you could head off on this fantastic 5k Alltrails walk that takes you across rolling hills, through tranquil woodland, and brings you back up to the village via a lovely stream where dogs and children can paddle to cool off.
